PPWR Docs

METHODOLOGY

A versioned, role-aware documentation method

PPWR Docs applies a deterministic role and applicability ruleset around Regulation (EU) 2025/40. It extracts, organises, explains, and drafts; it does not perform laboratory testing, legal advice, or certification.

How the workflow decides what to show

Plain-English business answers first determine the most likely manufacturer, importer, or distributor/reseller route. Own branding, specification control, and material packaging changes can change that route.

Each configured rule then evaluates the route, packaging facts, selected markets, evidence links, and effective date. Results use five states: supported, action required, not applicable, not yet applicable, or review required.

Future-dated provisions are visible for planning but excluded from today’s blockers. Unknown values stay unknown. AI-extracted facts keep their file and source location and remain suggestions until confirmed.

Documents follow the route

Manufacturers receive Annex VII-oriented Technical Documentation and an editable Annex VIII Declaration draft for manufacturer review and signature.

Importers receive an Importer Verification Record, manufacturer-document check, and importer identification instructions. Distributors receive a shorter operator and packaging verification record. PPWR Docs does not issue a manufacturer Declaration in an importer’s or distributor’s name.

EPR is assessed separately by selected market because producer status and registration can differ from the product-conformity role.

Important timing distinctions

  • The configured general application date is 12 August 2026.
  • Recycled-content and packaging-minimisation requirements are presented as future requirements for 2030.
  • Harmonised packaging labelling is presented with its configured future date and does not block today’s file.
  • Historical revisions and generated documents retain the ruleset and record snapshot used at generation time.
